Lê Huy – 7.0 IELTS: he scored 6.5, then kept studying, because it was not enough for him

A student from the very first days of the class
Huy has been with the class since it first opened. He is introverted and quiet, but he always tried.
Partway through he paused — he is strong at maths and wanted to focus there. Then he came back, as if he still had unfinished business with himself.
Getting to class was never easy
Huy does not live nearby, and he does not attend Vinschool like many of his classmates. On many days he arrived drenched in sweat from the heat, or soaked by a sudden downpour after sitting in traffic.
He still turned up, week after week, and he still chose to study in person.
To be accurate: there were times he was too busy to finish his homework. He was not a perfect student. But he did not miss sessions — and that is what kept him from falling behind.
6.5, and he carried on
On 30 September 2024, Huy took IELTS for the first time and scored 6.5. For many students, that number is enough to stop at.
Huy did not stop. He kept studying — the same way he had kept coming to class through rain and heat.
- Listening: 8.0
- Reading: 7.0
- Writing: 6.0
- Speaking: 6.0
- Overall: 7.0

One small thing you can try today
If you keep skipping lessons because you are busy, or far away, or it is raining — try flipping your priorities: keep the lesson, even on days you have not finished the homework.

Skip the lesson and you lose all of it. Turn up without the homework and you still keep most of it. Huy chose the second option for years, and it compounded into a 7.0.
Thank you to Huy and his family for their trust throughout this journey.
