Thiết Ngọc – 8.0 IELTS: studying online around a packed schedule, without letting a single small error slide

Living in Times City, still choosing to study online

Thiết Ngọc is a grade 11 student in the English-specialist stream at the High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi National University of Education. His English base was already solid.

He lives right in Times City and could easily have attended in person. But his extra-class schedule was so dense that he chose online for convenience.

Usually online is where quality slips. With Ngọc it went the other way.

How he studied: never allowing himself to be careless

He completed every assignment. But completing them was not what made the difference.

Ngọc examined every small error. When a teacher gave feedback, he did not nod and move on — he fixed it, then carried the lesson into the next piece. An error pointed out once almost never came back a second time.

That is why a student learning online still progressed steadily: he let no gap slide past.

Leaving, then coming back

Midway through, Ngọc paused to prepare for the SAT. Then he returned, and chose the Ngọn class — for students who want to push beyond where they already are.

That return said more than any promise: he had decided to go further.

The result

  • Listening: 8.5
  • Reading: 9.0
  • Writing: 7.5
  • Speaking: 6.5
  • Overall: 8.0

One small thing you can try today

Next time you get marked work back, do not just look at the score and file it away. Do one thing: copy out three errors you just made, one per line, each with the correct version beside it.

Before your next attempt, read those three lines. That is all.

An error you have named is hard to repeat. An error that was only underlined in red will come back on exam day.
