Khánh Hòa – 7.5 IELTS: over two bands in four months, starting from zero in Speaking and Writing
Khánh Hòa – 7.5 IELTS: over two bands in four months, starting from zero in Speaking and Writing

Joining at 5.0, never having studied Speaking or Writing
Khánh Hòa joined in early July at 5.0+. He had never studied IELTS Speaking or Writing — the two hardest skills, starting from zero.
He is quiet by nature. But he has something rare: he does the work without being asked.
How he studied: quietly, but never skipping a correction
Throughout the course, Hòa listened closely and completed every assignment. He took in each piece of feedback, one at a time, and let none of it slide.
Writing was where he moved fastest. Not because he wrote more than anyone else, but because of how he revised: fixing sentence by sentence, idea by idea, until the paragraph genuinely held together before moving on.
That is the difference between writing ten essays and leaving them, and writing one essay then revising it until you understand why the old sentence did not work.
Four months later
In November, Hòa sat the official test.
- Listening: 8.0
- Reading: 8.5
- Writing: 7.0
- Speaking: 6.5
- Overall: 7.5

Against his late-September mock, he gained 0.5. Against his starting point, he gained more than two bands — in four months. Writing rose a full band, Listening a full band, Reading half a band.
One small thing you can try today
If you are writing a lot and your score is not moving, change one habit: write less, revise more.
Take one essay you have already written. Read each sentence and ask: would a reader understand this immediately? If not, rewrite that sentence. Work to the end of the piece.
One carefully revised essay teaches you more than ten essays written and abandoned.
