Quang Anh - 6.5 IELTS: A deeply emotional uphill journey

Starting point: Almost from scratch

The first time Luna met Quang Anh, she clearly remembered:
A gentle, soft-spoken boy who loved making music — but had almost no English foundation.

He had studied English for many years at school, but when facing his first IELTS practice test, he was truly overwhelmed.

📉 Reading: couldn’t pass 4.0
📉 Writing: rambling, mistakes in meaning and grammar
📉 Speaking: didn’t know how to start or finish an answer
📉 Listening: panicked at the fast pace

But what made Luna believe in him was that he didn’t make excuses, didn’t blame anyone, and wasn’t pessimistic.

He just asked:
“Teacher, where should I start now? I learn slowly, but I will study steadily.”

A simple sentence, but it showed a strong determination.

Slow but never stopping

Quang Anh’s journey wasn’t as “brilliant” as those who started at 6.0–6.5.
He progressed step by step: 4.0 → 5.0 → 6.0 → 6.5.

Sometimes his test scores didn’t improve.
Sometimes he felt frustrated watching friends advance faster.

But he kept the habit of studying every night, doing Reading practice weekly, submitting Writing assignments no matter how busy he was.

🎨 Outside of class, he shared with Luna about his new drawings and songs he composed.
That helped her understand: he studied to rise up — not just for scores, but for the future he dreamed of.

Reaching the 6.5 milestone!

Enough to apply for university, enough to make him proud and bring joy to his family.

But more importantly — even after getting into university, Quang Anh continues preparing for IELTS with the dream:
“I want to study abroad — and prove that even if you start late, you can still go far.”

“Sometimes I thought I was only good at making music. But now I believe: if I persist, I can be good at much more than I imagined.”

Minimal English is proud of Quang Anh — not just for his 6.5 IELTS, but for his inner strength, humility, and never-give-up spirit.
